Ogbonna slams Premier League decision as Brady makes statement to upset Liverpool fans

West Ham were expecting to be in action this weekend but plans have been halted by the outbreak of coronavirus.

The Premier League have decided to postpone all Premier League fixtures until at least April 4th, which means that Gunners fans face three weeks without any action on the pitch. The Hammers were due to host Wolves at the London Stadium.

The break will leave West Ham with some unexpected extra time on their hands, especially with some of the coaching staff, including David Moyes in self-isolation as a precautionary measure.

While there is no football being played, there is still plenty going on at the London Stadium.

The state of play at West Ham amid coronavirus concerns

Here is the latest.

Karren Brady's Premier League suggestion

Hammers' director Karren Brady has said that the Premier League season should be cancelled and declared null and void in a statement that will annoy Liverpool fans.

The Reds are 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League and are on track to claim their first ever Premier League title.

However, the delay has put a doubt on of the season can be finished, and Brady says that there is only one option.

Ogbonna slams Premier League decision

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna has slammed the decision to go ahead with the Hammers' game against Arsenal at the start of the month amid coronavirus worries.

"It's absolutely unacceptable that our game against Arsenal did go ahead," he told Corriere della Serra.

"They'd played Olympiakos and the Greek team's owner had already been struck down with the virus. It almost seems as if someone needs to die in order for timely decisions to be made.

"It's not a footballing matter, but it's entrenched in the country's mentality. They haven't fully grasped the risk surrounding this virus which can be spread in just a few seconds if you don't behave in the correct way.

"I haven't been tested, which is further proof of the lax attitude here, to say the least."

Mark Noble delivers message

Hammers' captain Mark Noble has delivered a message to fans following the news of the ban, saying that the decision take to postpone matches is the right one to take.

"As much as we all want to play, it is the right decision. There are times when sport, as important as it is to so many people, is of secondary importance and this is just such a time," he said.

“I am a professional footballer and I take my work very seriously, but I am the same as everyone else in that the health of my family is paramount.

“Please follow the Government advice, put you and your loved ones’ health before anything else and do not take any unnecessary risks, and we can all return to football at the right time for everyone.”
