Ofir Marciano reveals the Jack Ross question posed to Hibs players after Aberdeen and Hearts defeats

Ofir Marciano says Jack Ross wasn't angry after Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen, but did ask a question of his Hibs stars.

The Easter Road side found themselves two goals behind after just 12 minutes following a couple of defensive blunders, and the damage was done.

Coming less than a week after a bruising 2-1 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to rivals Hearts, it hasn’t been a good November for the Hibees so far.

And Marciano admitted Ross asked where they want to be with a strong start to the season in danger of grinding to a halt.

“It’s not about anger,” said the goalkeeper. “He asked us the question, ‘Where do you want to be?’ And I think that is a fair question.

“We’ve had a good season but that’s not enough. We want to achieve both as individuals and a collective as well.

“We really believe we can do that but we need to set higher standards every day — not just on match days at
weekends but in training every day and try to be the best we can.

“I don’t want to compare us to other clubs. Hibs are a massive club and we do the things our own way. We’ve developed a good team this year.

“The results are disappointing if you look at last weekend’s as well. But there’s no need to panic. We just have to understand why. We need to ask ourselves the right questions, try to move on and get better.”

Despite the last two losses, Marciano is keen to acknowledge the good work Hibs had done up until then.

He added: “We cannot ignore the fact we are having a good season.

“We don’t expect to win every game but the demands from ourselves should be better.

“We know we need to be better. This is something we have to do.

“To be successful you have to demand as much as you can of yourself and to come to places like this to try and get something from the game.”

Now it’s about cutting out the mistakes that handed the points on a plate to their opponents at Pittodrie.

“Yes, we are really disappointed to concede two early goals,” said Marciano. “Usually we don’t make those kinds of mistakes.

“We need to analyse the game and take the good things and the bad and try to get better.

“Of course we know this is a tough place to come and Aberdeen are a good team. When they went up 2-0 it was always going to be hard for us but we need to react to situations.

“I hope for the next game we will be the ones who dictate the game and we are the ones who are on top.”
