Ofir Marciano open to 'upgrade' on Hibs after impressive season

Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano is hoping to “upgrade” after a good season between the sticks.

The Israeli international is away with his country ahead of Euro 202 qualifiers against Latvia and Poland respectively.

In an interview with One in his homeland, the 29-year-old was asked about wanting to move on to a higher level, and the ‘keeper admitted it;s something he’d be keen on given the “short career” players have.

He was one of Hibs' most consistent performers as the previous season wore on, with an end-of-season display against Celtic particularly impressive.

He said: "I want to keep myself and keep moving in. In our short career we have to move forward as quickly as possible, I did a good season and I feel like I deserve to move forward, thanks, I hope to make that upgrade and jump forward.

"Overall, I had half an excellent season after the injury, I got better and moved forward, last season I was arrested because of the injury, but since the move to Scotland, I have been showing good ability and it was a good move for my career, I believe the last year is the leap I was hoping to do."

Paul Heckingbottom will be desperate to keep his number one at Easter Road, and will be seeking competition for him after Adam Bogdan and Ross Laidlaw left the club recently.
