Offshore industry to help firms target growth funding

Key routes to funding growth in subsea businesses is to be the focus of a one-day event being held in Aberdeen later this month.

The Financing for Growth conference will feature specialists from leading banks, private equity firms, corporate finance advisors, law firms and enterprise agencies.

Organisations taking part include PinsentMasons, Simmons Energy, RSM and UK Export Finance.

Other participants include Santander, Scottish Enterprise, EV Private Equity and BGF.

The Subsea UK event will take place at the Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel on Thursday 30 May.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “One of Subsea UK’s key aims is to help our member companies grow, whether that is in the UK or internationally. “Recently, we have had feedback that companies are struggling to access the funds and the support they need to support their long-term growth ambitions.

“This event is our direct response to this challenge and we have put together a programme of speakers who, with their breadth of knowledge and experience, will be able to provide expert advice and guidance on a range of financing solutions and support.

“This conference is open to any firm looking to improve and enhance their financial strategies to ensure their long-term growth and increase shareholder value.”

Alan Dick, senior vice-president industry and technology of Simmons Energy, corporate finance advisors to the energy sector, will present at the conference.

With a depth of technical knowledge and commercial understanding of the subsea sector, Simmons Energy has been involved in building subsea businesses for over 20 years.

He said: “Our many years of insights and opinion on subsea technologies gives us a unique understanding of how value can be created, and investment best directed.

“The re-emergence of the offshore sector has led to renewed confidence and we are starting to see significant opportunities for investment and M&A activity.”
