Officials confirm FOUR new British cases of the deadly coronavirus among cruise ship passengers

Four more Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the UK.

Those fighting the virus were passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

They were evacuated from the coronavirus-stricken ship yesterday, where the virus was transmitted, having been on board the ship in Japan.

Dozens of cases had been confirmed on the luxury liner, which had over 3,000 passengers on board.

The news, confirmed by the chief medical officer, brings the total number of confirmed cases in the UK to 13.

The new cases have been transferred to specialist NHS infection centres.

They were among 30 Brits, and two Irish citizens, who landed at Boscombe Down Ministry of Defence base near Salisbury, Wiltshire on Saturday before being transferred to the Arrowe Park Hospital, in the Wirral to be quarantined for a fortnight.

The four confirmed cases had all tested negative for the COVID-19 strain before they flew back to the UK.

The first two cases confirmed in the UK involved a Chinese student and their relative who was later treated at the RVI hospital in Newcastle before being discharged.
