Official launch for new service to attract more Derbyshire investment

A new service has been formally launched in Derbyshire to help raise the profile of the county among the business community and encourage more companies to invest in the area.

Backed by Derbyshire County Council and the Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DEP), Invest in Derbyshire has been designed to support the county’s ambition to be the destination of choice for investors and businesses.

It aims to raise the profile of Derbyshire globally to secure investment and create new jobs.

It also aims to make it easier for investors to choose Derbyshire by providing a one-stop shop offering business support tailored to individual needs, including information about suitable sites and workforce skills.

Invest in Derbyshire is being delivered on behalf of the county council and DEP by Marketing Derby, an award-winning investment promotion agency.

An early win has involved attracting Seasalt, a Cornish fashion company providing women’s clothing, footwear and accessories, which has recently opened a new store in Bakewell. Invest in Derbyshire helped Seasalt in its search for suitable premises.

Now, Invest in Derbyshire has launched a brand new website and film, put together with the help of Marketing Derby bondholders Alt Design, Averill Photography, Purpose Media and Code Print.

“We are delighted that some of our bondholders have helped with this next step in the service offered.”

County council leader Councillor Barry Lewis said: “Driving economic growth and creating more job opportunities for local people is a vital part of our ambitious plans for the future.

“Derbyshire has so much to offer investors at both a national and global level. Its unique position at the heart of the UK together with excellent transport links and quality of life make our county an attractive place for businesses to locate invest, live, work and stay.”

Richard Horsley, chairman of the Derbyshire Enterprise Partnership, said: “With its rich heritage of innovation and a broad range of development opportunities, Derbyshire has one of the strongest economic performances in the country.

“With a diverse economy ranging from advanced manufacturing through to creative and digital industries, minerals and aggregates and tourism there are many opportunities for businesses and investors alike to thrive.”
