Officers searching for missing man Shane Dixon find body in woodland near River Trent

Police searching for a missing man from The Meadows have found a body.

Officers from the specialist search unit discovered the body - believed to be that of Shane Dixon - off Queens Drive, near the River Trent at around 6.20pm on April 5.

Nottinghamshire Police are yet to formally identify the man, but it is believed the body was that of missing Shane Dixon who was 28 years old.

Mr Dixon was reported missing on Thursday, April 4 at around 10am and was last seen in the Meadows.

Police said he had a number of tattoos, including children's names on the inside of his forearms.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson added: "His relatives have been informed and are being supported by officers."
