Officers in East Kilbride following "definite" line of enquiry over rape of man

A man was taken to hospital on Saturday after he was attacked and raped in Glen Urquhart at the weekend.

Now Police Scotland say they are following a “definite and positive line of enquiry” into the incident.

The 35-year man told officers he was attacked and raped in his East Kilbride flat in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A large police presence could be seen in the area until late morning.

The victim is said to have raised the alarm at about 5.20am with emergency services rushing to the scene.

He was transferred to nearby Hairmyres Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

At the weekend police said investigations into the serious sex assault were ongoing.

However, on Monday morning the News were told that officers were following a definite line of inquiry, with an update expected later in the day.

No arrests have yet been made.
