Officers appeal for information after late night car blaze in Wishaw street

Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a man's car was deliberately set ablaze in Wishaw.

The owner was in his home on Graham Street at around 12.20am on Tuesday when he heard noises outside on his driveway.

When he went out to check, he found his black Honda Civic in flames.

That car, and the Nissan vehicle beside it, both sustained serious damage in the attack.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and who may have seen something significant to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: "If you have any information that could assist officers with this enquiry, any suspicious vehicles or person acting suspicious please contact Police on 101 quoting reference number 0180 of the 16th July 2019.

"Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111 in confidence and anonymity can be maintained."

It is the second attack of this type in the area this week, following another in Avon Wynd in Newmains.
