Officer slightly hurt after paramotor engine fails

SAMUT PRAKAN -- A police officer sustained a minor injury after the engine of his motorised paraglider stopped in mid-air, causing the craft to drift towards the ground on Sunday morning.

Pol Lt Col Suntaraporn Jatoom, an officer of Muang police station, said that he took off from an area in front of the office of Thepharak tambon organisation administration. When the paramotor was about 300 metres above the ground, the engine abruptly stopped, causing the craft to lose altitude rapidly.

He looked for a good location for an emergency landing and decided on a meadow.  When the craft landed behind Pattanasuk Housing Estate in tambon Bang Muang, he sustained a minor injury.

The officer thanked residents in the area for rushing to help him.

A rescue unit of the Thepharak TAO also went to the scene.
