Officer charged for child abuse and bestiality material

A police officer has been charged with possessing child abuse and bestiality material, an unauthorised firearm and intentionally publishing protected information.

The 26-year-old constable from southern NSW will be forced to face court over the offences after he was issued a notice on Wednesday night.

Police within the force's standards arm began investigating him in July after a referral from the Australian Federal Police.

While executing an search warrant at a property in the state's south in mid-September, they found and seized electronic devices, a gel blaster and ammunition.

He has been suspended with pay as NSW Police review his employment, and will appear before Albury Local Court on November 19.

He was faces another charge for failing to store his firearm properly.
