Office Outlet Weston-super-Mare to shut as chain announces wave of branch closures

Stationery chain Office Outlet is closing 16 stores across the UK including its branch in Weston-super-Mare.

The retailer, formerly part of the Staples brand, went into administration last month.

It is not yet known what will happen to the Bristol store on Newfoundland Road.

More than 160 jobs will be lost immediately as part of the closures, including 12 roles at the Weston branch.

Administrators had been hoping to find a buyer for the chain.

Office Outlet is shutting 16 stores (Huddersfield Examiner)

Joint administrator at Deloitte Richard Hawes said: "The company has recently experienced a reduction in credit from key suppliers, given the economic outlook which has severely impacted the financial position of the company."

Office Outlet was previously part of stationery business Staples before it sold its physical stores to investors Hilco Capital in 2016.

It has no connection to the online Staples UK business.
