Office evacuated as power cut hits Glasgow's city centre

Homes and businesses have been left without power in Glasgow's city centre.

Staff at the Department of Work and Pensions on Milton Street have been evacuated from the building following the power cut.

A number of other buildings in the neighborhood are also affected, with SP Energy Networks saying they became aware of the issue shortly after 3pm this afternoon (Thursday).

Engineers are now working on the problem, in the hope power is back up and running soon.

A statement on the SP Energy Networks site reads: "We are aware of a #POWERCUT in #G4 #Glasgow. Our engineers are working to restore supplies. Sorry for the inconvenience."
