Offer reportedly made to Nottingham Forest target as transfer saga takes fresh twist

Another club have been thrown into the mix as a possible January destination for Nottingham Forest target Kamil Grosicki.

The Reds were close to signing the West Bromwich Albion winger in the summer window, only for the move to fall through amid a dispute about paperwork being submitted in time.

Boss Chris Hughton has retained an interest in the Poland international, who is out of favour at The Hawthorns.

GARIBALDI RED: "If there's one area I could improve right now, I'd be going after a No. 10"

But Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Legia Warsaw have also been linked, with fellow Polish club Pogon Szczecin now reportedly in the running as well.

The latter is where Grosicki started his career, and, according to reports in his homeland, he is considering a “sentimental return” to the club.

Onet claim Pogon “have reportedly made him an offer”, but they say the finances involved mean a move “does not seem realistic”.

They suggest an issue may not only be “the amount of compensation requested by West Bromwich Albion but also the high salary of the player”.

The report adds: “According to ‘Super Express’ information, Grosicki currently earns 25 thousand pounds per week, or about 125 thousand PLN. It is not known how much Pogoń can offer him, but currently the best-paid player of the club earns about 20,000 euros per month, or 90 thousand PLN.”

TVP Sport say: “The player would have to drastically lower his expectations. And it seems too drastically for the deal to be finalised.”

Polsat Sport claim Grosicki “would certainly prefer to stay in England not only because of the sports level, but also the value of the potential contract”.

Grosicki made only his third appearance of the season for Albion on Saturday, named in the starting XI as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackpool on penalties.
