Offensive line has strong Week 1 performance for Raiders

If the Raiders are going to have any success on offense this year, they are going to need their offensive line to hold up well. That was the case for most of last season as Josh McDaniels got the unit to play well above their heads. And so far in 2023, they are doing the exact same thing.

In a recent article by Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus, he ranked all 32 offensive lines heading into Week 2. The Raiders came in at No. 16 after allowing just three pressures against the Broncos. Here is a snippet of what Monson had to say about the group from last week:

The Raiders’ offensive line surprised many people by being one of the most effective pass-blocking units in Week 1. They surrendered only three pressures on 29 dropbacks with no sacks, which led to the second-highest pass-blocking efficiency rating (94.8) of the week.

Kolton Miller is still far and away the best player in the group. But Dylan Parham and Greg Van Roten each had strong performances in Week 1. If they can both play at an above-average level, this offensive line has a chance to be really good this season.

They will certainly have a tall task ahead of them on Sunday as they will take on the Bills coming off an ugly loss to the Jets. It will be fascinating to see if the offensive line can hold up again on the road in a hostile environment.
