'Off to the crusher' say police as they seize foreign car in Liverpool

Police have taken action against another foreign-owned car on the streets of Liverpool.

On Tuesday, we reported how Merseyside Police had punished the driver of a Qatari-owned vehicle which they located in Sefton Street around lunch time.

The Mercedes car was found to be using false British licence plates, despite being registered in Qatar.

Officers found the original Qatari plates in the boot of the vehicle and issued the driver with a ticket.

Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit have also tweeted about another recent incident involving a foreign-registered car on Liverpool's roads.

The unit posted a picture of a car they had stopped around 4pm on Saturday on Breck Road.

They revealed that the Mazda car was registered in Italy - but that wasn't the only issue.

The tweet explained: "Italian car, driven by Romanian driver using invalid French insurance... Vehicle seized and off to the crusher #DriveInsured"

A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed that the vehicle was seized and will be crushed if not reclaimed.

The driver of the car was also issued with a Traffic Offence Report.
