Off Guard: 19-fight UFC veteran Mike Pyle wants to see Jon Jones vs. Israel Adesanya

LAS VEGAS – If UFC veteran Mike Pyle has one piece of advice for young fighters out there, it’s to go make that paper.

The money fight era is not for everyone, but Pyle believes that in a sport in which it’s hard to have longevity and success, fighters need to go out and make as much money as they can.

That’s why contrary to most, he actually likes the idea of a potential fight between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and newly crowned middleweight champ Israel Adesanya in what would be a battle between two of the UFC’s biggest stars.

“I would like to see Jones and Adesanya get after it,” Pyle said. “I would like to see it. I don’t know, what is considered time? Who says it’s time? I mean look, it’s a young man’s sport. Make that money. Make that money. If there’s $20 million for everyone to make, go make that money.”

Pyle, a 19-fight UFC veteran, currently is assisting with coaching at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas and is enjoying the role of passing down his knowledge.

“I’ve got a lot of stuff stored in my noodle,” Pyle said. “Over the years, I’ve learned a lot, and learned a lot from my teammates, and I like to pass it on to our stewards of the sport – and it’s fun. It’s fun to help them (and) see them develop. I’m just helping a bit here and there you know.”
