
An off-duty police officer has been charged following an investigation into a two-vehicle crash in the Lake Macquarie region last month.
Emergency crews were called to Wyee Road, Wyee, about 9.30am on July 18 after reports a Jeep and a Hyundai collided head-on.
The Jeep driver and sole occupant, a 37-year-old man, was trapped for an hour before being released.
The Hyundai driver, a 48-year-old woman, sustained serious leg and internal injuries.
Her passenger, a 13-year-old boy, suffered a broken wrist.
They were all treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
On Monday, the 37-year-old man who had been driving the Jeep - and who is a senior constable attached to Central Metropolitan Region - was issued a Court Attendance Notice.
He is charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm- drive speed dangerous, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm- drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), not keep left of dividing line and two counts of cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle.
He is due to appear at Toronto Local Court on October 6.
