Off-duty police officer caught flashing colleague on Hampstead Heath

An off-duty police officer was caught exposing himself to another colleague on Hampstead Heath.

Dariusz Alexander, 49, a detective constable attached to the Roads and Transport Policing Command, was found guilty of outraging public decency at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on June 22.

The court heard that two police officers were patrolling the north London beauty spot on March 18.

During the patrol, one of the officers noticed Alexander, who was off duty that day, exposing himself.

He was arrested and was suspended from duty with immediate effect.

District Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, Peter Alexandrou, said: “Alexander exposed himself to an off-duty police officer. His actions caused distress to the victim and there was a high risk that members of the public could have seen him.

“Everyone has the right to use London’s public spaces and parks without risk of encountering anti-social behaviour. Feeling safe should not be a luxury for the public.

“The CPS is determined to work with law enforcement agencies to combat all types of sexual harassment and seek justice for victims.”

Alexander was sentenced to a six-month conditional discharge, plus £625 costs and a £26 victim surcharge.
