Ofcom receives 25,000 complaints over Faye's behaviour on Love Island

Almost 25,000 viewers complained to Ofcom after Friday night's episode of Love Island.

In the episode, Faye Winter had an explosive rant at partner Teddy Soares after being shown a clip of him from Casa Amor during the Mad Movies challenge.

The clip showed Teddy admitting he was sexually attracted to Clarisse Juliette as the pair spent time getting to know each other in the second villa.

Faye then launched a swearing rant at Teddy and shouted at Matthew MacNabb and Dale Mehmet when they attempted to calm her down.

Faye said she had incorrectly believed Teddy was “a f***ing saint” in Casa Amor, and believed him to be “a f***ing liar” after seeing the video.

Ofcom received a total of 24,763 complaints about the episode, which is a record number for the reality show.

An Ofcom spokesperson has since Tweeted: "We've received over 25,000 complaints about last week's Love Island, which is consistent with a trend of growing complaints about high-profile TV shows.

"We are carefully assessing these complaints, but have not yet taken a decision on whether or not to investigate."

Faye's reaction was widely criticised by fans.

One person Tweeted: "Love island has felt draining after the Faye and Teddy argument. It was so toxic to watch, and the fact things are supposed to just go "back to normal" feels wrong. #LoveIsland"

Another said: "Toxic as hell though they’re gonna end up in the exact same position next argument #loveisland"

One fan said: "I like Faye but her tempter is ridiculous and all that argument with Teddy is such a huge overreaction. She really isn’t there to find love #LoveIsland"

Love Island also sparked more than 5,000 complaints earlier this series, after fans claimed that a postcard from Casa Amor led the girls to wrongly think the boys were being unfaithful.
