Ofcom has launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, it has been announced.
A spokesperson said: “We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.”
The media watchdog has received more than 40,000 complaints following comments made by Piers Morgan after the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan branded Meghan and Harry's interview a 'two-hour trashathon of our Royal Family' and has called on Prince Harry to explain what was said.
The interview saw Meghan claim there was discussion in the Palace about what colour Archie's skin would be when he was born.
Morgan described it as 'race bombshell'.
He said: "I am angry to the point of boiling over today. I am sickened by what I have just had to watch.
"This is a two-hour trashathon of our royal family, of the monarchy, of everything the Queen has worked so hard for and it's all been done as Prince Philip lies in hospital.
"They trash everybody. They basically make out the entire Royal Family are a bunch of white supramacists by dropping this race bombshell.
"They didn't name which one it was, they just throw it out there so it could be any member of the Royal Family and Harry says 'I'll never say who it was', you better say it fast."
