Odsonne Edouard wins another prize as Celtic striker is named player of the month

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has been named the Ladbrokes Premiership player of the month for August.

The £9million signing from Paris Saint-Germain netted two league goals and grabbed two assists in that month.

He also set Celtic on their way to a 2-0 win at Rangers but that strike came on September 1 so does not count towards the prize.

With six goals in total this campaign, Edouard has been Neil Lennon’s top performer and will be one of the manager’s first names on the teamsheet for the Europa League showdown against Rennes in France on Thursday.

It’s the second Ladbrokes gong the 21-year-old has won, with him also collecting the prize in April.

Edouard has scored 40 goals since initially joining Celtic on loan from PSG in August 2017.

On Tuesday morning the France U21 forward was the subject of reported interest from Napoli who were said to have been tracking him for two years ahead of lodging a £30million bid.
