Odsonne Edouard 'watched' by Juventus as Celtic star fits Andrea Pirlo's transfer criteria

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is reportedly being watched by Juventus.

Italian media state boss Andrea Pirlo wants to sign a striker to support Alvaro Morata in attack.

Edouard has previously been linked with AC Milan despite a stop-start season at Parkhead.

And now calciomercato.it claim a move for the France U-21 international is being considered by the Serie A champions.

Juventus ' striker hunt has thrown up a host of potential targets, including Memphis Depay, Krzysztof Piątek, Arkadiusz Milik and Olivier Giroud.

But it's believed Edouard could represent a sound investment given his age and value.

Celtic have previously priced the 22-year-old at around £30m after interest from Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City emerged last season.

Meanwhile, Hoops boss Neil Lennon has hit back at pundit Neil McCann after he claimed Edouard's Panenka penalty during Sunday's Scottish Cup Final was "disrespectful".

Former Rangers star McCann was unimpressed by the forward's audacious finish but Lennon was left incredulous by the criticism.

He said: “What, you want me to caution Odsonne for scoring a penalty in a cup final? Come on.

“The Panenka has been around since 1976. I have seen great players doing it, I have seen [Andrea] Pirlo doing it against England.

“I don’t remember any of those individuals getting actually criticised or being called disrespectful. It’s just complete and utter nonsense.

“Listen, I have seen players blast it over the bar, I have seen players hit the post, I have seen players scuff it, I have seen players miss penalties. I have seen Odsonne miss a penalty this year already. I have seen goalies making good saves.

“That’s his way at that moment of assessing the situation and executing it, so he has my full blessing to do whatever he wants as long as it hits the net.

“You cannot ask anyone to warn a player after he has scored a really beautiful goal in a really important game in a cup final: Don’t do that again Odsonne, because some people think it’s disrespectful.”
