Odsonne Edouard under Celtic injury surveillance as France fixture decision revealed

Celtic are in constant dialogue with French medical chiefs over the fitness of Odsonne Edouard.

The Parkhead talisman linked up with his Under-21 national team this week for their trips to face Georgia on Friday and Azerbaijan on Monday.

Edouard missed Celtic’s previous two matches against Ferencvaros and Motherwell with a thigh issue and French boss Sylvain Ripoll is taking every precaution with the 22-year-old.

Record Sport understands the Hoops medical team are keeping regular contact with their FFF counterparts to monitor the striker’s progress and are being kept fully abreast of the situation.

And, although he has been involved in parts of the training sessions with the rest of the squad in Tblisi, it is believed he has not been involved in any intense work due to the sensitive nature of the injury.

French media sources have confirmed that Ripoll is planning to be without the hitman for the game against the Georgians as he plays it safe with the Celtic forward.

Edouard is due to return to Paris with the squad following their onward trip to take on Azerbaijan next week before returning ahead of the champions’ trip to face Ross County in Dingwall a week tomorrow.
