Odsonne Edouard transfer news as Celtic face £10m price drop amid continued Brendan Rodgers reunion interest

Brendan Rodgers could move to take Odsonne Edouard to Leicester City after key striker Jamie Vardy suffered an injury, according to a report.

The Irishman has a long standing interest in the striker, something first revealed in Record Sport last January when the price tag to prise the striker away from Paradise would have been around £30m.

That has now dropped by around £10m given Edouard's slump in striking outputs and he only has 18 months left on his current deal. He is thought to be unlikely to sign another contract to remain in the Scottish Premiership.

While the Frenchman has under performed by his own high standards this term, the 23-year-old still has 11 goals and four assists in 23 appearances for the club.

Vardy's hernia problem will rule the prolific 34-year-old out for a few weeks and with the Foxes very much in the mix for the Premier League title, a quality back-up is being considered.

talkSPORT 's transfer expert Alex Crook said: “One name that keeps coming up in conversations with people close to Leicester is Odsonne Edouard at Celtic.

“He’s in the last 18 months of his contract, is reluctant to sign a new deal and could be available for £20m.

“That looks a shrewd bit of business for me, and they do need back-up and even a long-term successor to Jamie Vardy, so watch that one between now and the end of the window.”
