Odsonne Edouard transfer latest as Southampton 'join race' for Celtic striker

Southampton have joined the race to sign Celtic star Odsonne Edouard, according to a report.

The striker is set to leave Parkhead in the summer with just 12 months left on his deal.

It’s believed he wants a new challenge and Celtic are willing to cash in on him to ensure they get a treasurer fee.

And now the Scottish Sun report that Southampton are the latest club to step up their interest in him.

Celtic are still hoping to get upwards of £20m for the Frenchman, who has netted 85 goals for the club.

Leicester City - under Brendan Rodgers - Arsenal, Roma, Aston Villa and AC Milan have all been credited with an interest as well.

It’s unlikely a new boss will be able to persuade Edouard to stick around, although Eddie Howe will try his best if he is finally confirmed as the new manager at Celtic Park.

Celtic are still looking to get a good fee for Edouard despite his contract situation, with PSG still due a large chunk of any fee thanks to a sell-on clause.

Edouard netted his 22nd goal of the season on Wednesday night. The Frenchman has struggled this campaign but his goalscoring record has still impressed.
