Odsonne Edouard transfer latest as Leicester 'push' for Celtic deal to avoid last minute hitch

Leicester are stepping up their bid to get a deal sealed for Odsonne Edouard to avoid any late hitches.

The Premier League club have concerns that other sides could come in for him and scupper a reunion with Brendan Rodgers.

The Guardian reports that they are ‘pushing’ to get the deal confirmed, although Celtic are unlikely to do so until a new manager is in place.

That is still unclear on when Ange Postecoglou will take over, although a deal has been ‘verbally’ agreed.

The 23-year-old was initially signed by Rodgers to Celtic back in 2017 from PSG before a £9m deal sealed a permanent switch.

The French giants are owed 50 per cent of any profit that is made on Edouard, and he’s likely to go for around £15million.

That means the Celtic Park outfit are expected to make just £3m profit on the Frenchman.

He’s scored 74 times in 139 appearances for the Hoops, and finished this season as top scorer despite a disappointing campaign.

Edouard is expected to be one of many players who will leave the club this summer, with Kristoffer Ajer also pushing for an exit.

Newcastle are interested to sign him while Bayer Leverkusen are also keen on bringing him to Germany.
