Odsonne Edouard sent Celtic message by Mikael Lustig as former teammate snipes at Scottish football critics

Mikael Lustig has used Odsonne Edouard's flying start to life in the Premier League to take aim at Scottish football's critics.

The Frenchman swapped Celtic for Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day and made his debut off the bench against Tottenham.

He took just seconds to get his first goal for Palace and later added a second to secure a 3-0 win over Nuno Espirito Santo's high-flyers.

It was a great start for the £15m man and he's just the latest in a long line of stars to successfully transition from the SPFL into the self-professed "greatest league in the world."

And his formidable debut was another warning to Scottish football's detractors south of the border.

Mikael Lustig certainly believes that as he was quick off the mark with a witty reply to Edouard's thank you message to the Palace fans.

After watching his former Parkhead teammate take English football by storm, the right-back wrote: "Easier down south for sure!"

Edouard scored 86 goals in 179 appearances across five seasons in Scotland.

He has two in just six minutes for Palace in the Premier League.
