Odsonne Edouard's Henrik Larsson ranking as Celtic icon Chris Sutton delivers 'exquisite' verdict

Celtic icon Chris Sutton has paid Odsonne Edouard the ultimate compliment, comparing him to former team-mate Henrik Larsson.

The French striker scored twice in the 4-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park, including another exquisite free-kick.

Record Sport columnist Sutton was on co-commentary duties for the match and could not have been more generous in his praise for Edouard.

He said: "He's the closest thing I've seen to Henrik Larsson.

"The ability he has, the awareness. At this moment in time the £9million they paid is an absolute snip.

"Some of the link-up play again tonight has been exquisite."

Larsson scored 242 goals in 313 games for the Hoops, forming a deadly partnership with Sutton in the team that reached the UEFA Cup final in 2003.

Edouard took his season tally to 24 in all competitions with his brace this evening, a result which ensured Celtic maintain their seven point lead over Rangers at the top.
