Odsonne Edouard's Celtic record catches French eyes as striker joins elite club with Kylian Mbappe

He may not have been at his prolific best this season but Odsonne Edouard still had a 2020 to remember.

As well as helping Celtic to a fourth domestic treble in a row the striker's goalscoring feats put him in some exalted company.

With 23 strikes in all competitions Edouard was the fourth best French goalscorer for any professional club in the world.

His return put him level with Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema in the calendar year and just three goals behind Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.

That's caught the attention of observers back in his homeland with 90min noting that he's also hit 15 goals in 10 caps for the France Under-21 side.

Edouard is ahead of the likes of Anthony Martial and Olivier Giroud, with only three French players managing to outscore him in 2020.

He's been linked with Arsenal, Milan and Juventus but Celtic have made clear they won't countenance a sale in January.
