Odsonne Edouard 'ready' for Celtic free transfer as striker prepared to let contract expire

Striker Odsonne Edouard is prepared to run down his contract and leave Celtic for nothing, according to a report.

The French forward is out of contract next summer and sees his future away from Parkhead.

With just three weeks remaining in the transfer window, time is running out for Edouard to secure a move this summer.

Brighton and Southampton are interested in the 23-year-old but the latter are set to sign Blackburn Rovers star Adam Armstrong.

The Daily Mail report if Celtic do not receive and accept a bid before the deadline, Edouard is ready to run down his deal and await offers in the New Year.

He would be free to sign a pre-contract with another club come January, raising the prospect of Celtic not banking a fee for a player they signed for £9million from Paris Saint-Germain.

Edouard was valued as high as £40m by Celtic last summer.

But a disappointing 2020/21 campaign and his expiring contract have chipped away at his potential price-tag.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been linked with OH Leuven forward Thomas Henry.

But the Daily Mail report states a potential move for Henry - or any other striker - would be contingent on Edouard leaving Glasgow.
