Odsonne Edouard 'liked' by dispatched Celtic Europa League opponents Lazio as sporting director makes transfer admission

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has admitted he admires Celtic's 20-goal hitman Odsonne Edouard.

The striker has been the Hoops' talisman this season, stepping up with important goals and big performances when required.

Transfer vultures have been circling the French under-21 star, including Leicester City who the Daily Record exclusively revealed their plan to make a £30m bid at the end of the season.

One of the clubs repeatedly credited with an interest are Serie A high-fliers Lazio, who were beaten home and away by Celtic in the Europa League.

And the Rome club's sporting director, Tare, has broken his silence on the Italian side's reported pursuit of Edouard.

He said: "Edouard from Celtic? Yes, I like him, but I haven't made a move for him.

"What I would say is that in the transfer market it works like this - when it comes to buying players, I shut up and don't comment."

Earlier this week, Celtic manager Neil Lennon warned suitors Celtic's star man won't be sold this month.

He said: "Edouard won’t be going anywhere, there is no chance of that. He is too good a player and you could see the impact he made last weekend.

"He doesn’t get affected by anything. He is quiet and has a cool streak."
