Odsonne Edouard issues Celtic transfer declaration as in-form striker scoops Player of the Month

Man of the moment Odsonne Edouard is flattered by interest from Europe's big guns but insists his only focus is Celtic.

The in-form striker scooped the Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month award for January after his efforts helped fire the Hoops seven points clear of Rangers.

Edouard has bagged eight goals since the winter break ended and his stunning all-round displays prompted comparisons to Parkhead icon Henrik Larsson.

Record Sport exclusively revealed in December that Brendan Rodgers was planning a £40million summer to bring his former player to Leicester City.

And reports down south and across Europe have linked the Frenchman with the likes of Manchester United and Lazio.

Edouard, however, refuses to be swept up by the speculation.

He said: "It’s very flattering but I still have 2 years left on my contract at Celtic, I want to concentrate on that.

"I am very happy (to win Player of the Month). This is my second of the season and I hope it will continue like that.

"Personally, I'm feeling good. The team is playing well so I am happy. My job is to score goals so I'm feeling good with this season."

Edouard has developed a promising partnership with Leigh Griffiths since Neil Lennon introduced a 3-5-2 formation at the turn of the year.

And the 22-year-old admits he's glad to have some company at the sharp end of Celtic's attack.

He added: "Leigh is a great player and we're complimenting each other very well and both scoring which is great.

"I think the fans can expect more of me for the rest of season, but the most important thing is the performance of team."

Earlier on Tuesday, former Parkhead star Charlie Nicholas spoke out on how far he reckons Edouard can go.

The pundit believes he would already slot in seamlessly at the likes of Man United or Chelsea.

Nicholas told The Express: "Odsonne Edouard is good enough to go and play at a Chelsea or a Manchester United.

"I say that with some confidence. I think he could go into both their squads and make a real impact.

"That is how much ability he has. It is up to him how far he wants to go in his career. The sky's the limit.

"Why have I picked these clubs? Because they have both been linked with his former Celtic strike partner Moussa Dembele in recent months.

"For me, Edouard is a better footballer than the Lyon striker and his fellow Frenchman.

"He is absolutely nailed on to win the player of the year award in my opinion."
