Odsonne Edouard issued post Celtic blast by Ian Wright as he fails to clear 'significant' Crystal Palace threshold

Ian Wright reckons Crystal Palace boss Patrick Viera may be looking for a new striker this summer - as Odsonne Edouard's move from Celtic hasn't worked out.

The French forward has featured regularly for the Eagles since moving to London in summer 2021 but has not found the net with such consistency that made him a household favourite in Glasgow, following a move from PSG. So far this term Edouard has netted just five times, with three goals in 23 Premier League matches, having not scored a league goal since October.

Palace are being dragged closer towards the foot of the top flight table as their winless streak in 2023 goes on and Arsenal striking great Wright has identified the forward line as a problem area. They have drew a blank on 12 league occasions and the former forward reckons it's Edouard's move from Celtic which looks like being a story of what could have been for all.

He told Premier League Productions: "You look at Palace, are they going to give him (Vieira) the money to spend, are they waiting for the summer? Hopefully, Patrick will still be there in the summer.

"Up to this point, they haven’t made a significant signing, for a start like most teams, they need a goalscorer. You need to find somebody who can take those chances, they thought it was going to happen with Odsonne Edouard, it’s not quite happened.”
