Odsonne Edouard insists Celtic 'risk' was right as he maps out plan for future

Odsonne Edouard insists his record breaking move to Celtic can help propel him onto being one of the best forwards in football.

The 21-year-old Frenchman moved from Paris Saint Germain for an eye-watering £9million last summer after spending the previous season on loan at Parkhead.

And while he has blown hot and cold in the current campaign, the striker has made his mark where it counts with big goals in major games.

His opener in the crucial 2-1 win over Rangers last month took his tally in the derby to four in five matches.

And he believes regular game time and the experience of European football as well as Old Firm clashes will stand him in good stead.

The special trait in Celtic's DNA which helps secure so many last gasp winners

Despite seeing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting break into the PSG forward line this season, Edouard insists he has no regrets over his departure from Paris.

Speaking in this week's edition of L’Equipe , he said of his move to Glasgow: “From the moment I made that choice, I assume it, I have no regrets.

"There is inevitably a risk when leaving. But in staying as well.

"I do not set limits, I want to be one of the best attackers. And the big ones, they acquired maturity while playing.

“I always had confidence in my abilities. But here this season I have achieved a lot.

“In all aspects of my game – tactical, physical – I feel that I have evolved. I have more maturity. The more I play, the more I am developing and I know I can do more.”

Edouard also revealed in the French publication how the Old Firm atmosphere was the best he has ever experienced.

“It’s an extraordinary atmosphere, the best I’ve ever had in a stadium," he said.

"There is a big rivalry, it’s an important match for the fans. Me, I take it in the same way as others. With the same energy.”
