Odsonne Edouard in Tottenham scouting mission as Celtic star 'lined up' as Harry Kane replacement

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is being lined up as a replacement for Harry Kane at Tottenham, according to a report.

The French striker has been on fire at the Hoops this season and netted 27 goals in all competitions before the shutdown of Scottish football.

And Spurs watched him on a number of occasions throughout the campaign and could test Celtic's resolve with a big bid in the summer, according to the Sunday Times.

The English giants are looking for someone to challenge club captain Kane or replace him if he forces a move in the summer.

Kane has hinted that he wants to challenge for trophies and Spurs are also looking for someone who can fill in should he pick up another injury.

The hitman has struggled with injuries at times over the last couple of seasons, including in the run up to the 2019 Champions League Final.

Jose Mourinho had to rely on the likes of Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli to be a stand-in striker this season when Kane was injured with youngster Troy Parrott deemed too inexperienced to play.

But they will have to splash the cash if they want Edouard with suggestions that Celtic will look for more than the £25million they sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal for last season.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon is desperate to hold onto him and insists Edouard has no interest in leaving the club at this stage.

He said: "It's inevitable there will be speculation surrounding Odsonne because of the player and talent he is.

"He hasn't said anything to me about wanting to go.

"Whether that changes over the next while, we don't know, but we have him on a really good contract and we are in a strong position to rebuff any interest in him. We don't want to sell him. We are happy with him and he seems quite happy here."
