Odsonne Edouard in Roma transfer link as Celtic star 'considered' by Jose Mourinho ahead of striker sale

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is reportedly on Roma's shortlist to replace the outgoing Edin Dzeko.

Serie A champions Inter are set to sell Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, with a £95million deal expected to be confirmed this week.

Owners Suning Group are looking to cut costs amid a financial crisis, so will replace the Belgian with veteran striker Dzeko.

That will, in turn, leave Roma needing a striker and Il Tempo reports that Edouard is among the options for Jose Mourinho.

While the Giallorossi would love to sign Mauro Icardi from Paris Saint-Germain, he's not seen as a viable target due to his salary and the transfer fee that would be required to bring him back to Italy.

Top of Mourinho's list is Tammy Abraham of Chelsea, but he's wanted by both Atalanta and Arsenal and is thought to be prioritising a move across London.

If he is open to a move to the Eternal City though, Roma would look to take him on an initial loan with an obligation to buy him next summer.

Dusan Vlahovic and Alexander Isak are also likely to cost around €40million (£34m), so Il Tempo reports that Edouard is seen as a "low cost" alternative.

The Celtic star has one year remaining on his contract and is also wanted by Southampton and Brighton.

The Parkhead club would still expect a fee close to £20m but that may be the most affordable option for Roma.
