Odsonne Edouard in bizarre cup final 'appearance' as Celtic striker named among St Johnstone starters in TV blooper

The 11 players that lined up for St Johnstone in their Scottish Cup date with destiny will forever be remembered as club legends.

Shaun Rooney, Zander Clark and the rest are unlikely to ever pay for a pint in Perth again after securing a momentous Cup Double - the first seen outside of Glasgow for over 30 years.

As for manager Callum Davidson it's a case of, 'where do you want your statue'.

But few would have predicted Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard getting involved in the action on Saturday in the Hampden showpiece against Hibs.

Okay, not quite - but the frontman was bizarrely included at the bottom of Saints' starting 11 near the start of the BBC's final coverage.

Assigned the number four jersey - which already happens to belong to centre-back Jamie McCart - eagle-eyed viewers spotted the mistake in the build-up.

Spare a thought for Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton, who was the man that 'missed out'.

Right-back Rooney went on to be the hero as his 32nd-minute header opened up a 1-0 lead.

And that's how it stayed with Jack Ross' side tasting defeat at the national stadium again.

But it's a familiar feeling for Davidson's side who take both trophies up the road having scooped the Betfred Cup back in February against Livingston.
