Odsonne Edouard given special Celtic praise as Neil Lennon hails 'talismanic' striker

Neil Lennon hailed Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard as one of the best strikers the Hoops have had in the last 20 years after he put in a man of the match display against Ross County.

The forward came off the bench to bag two goals in three minutes against the Staggies, helping the Scottish champions eventually ease to a 3-0 win at Parkhead.

The former PSG player moved onto the 20-goal mark for the season, netting his 14th and 15th Scottish Premiership goals with a header and a clinical finish shortly afterwards.

The 22-year-old was carrying a toe injury before kick-off, and Lennon admitted it was the right call to start the Frenchman on the bench as he wasn't sure the striker would last the full game.

The Celtic boss heaped praise on Edouard, calling the frontman "talismanic", crediting him as one of the Hoops' best forwards in recent times.

Lennon said: "The introduction of Odsonne gave us a real spark but in the first half I didn't think we were really at the races, it was a bit of a struggle for us.

"But once we got the important first goal I thought we controlled the game from there on and it's a fantastic win and a very important win for us.

"He's hugely important (to us), he's an outstanding footballer, talismanic almost, he's so talented, so cool and he had two great finishes.

"He's up there with some of the best we've had over the last 20 odd years. McGregor and Brown, those players who play week in week out and don't always get the headlines have been so consistent for me as well.

"Odsonne made a huge impact today and we're delighted with that. It was the right decision to make as he might not have made the whole 90 minutes."
