Odsonne Edouard given Celtic exit backing as Kieran Tierney Arsenal comparison made

Keith Gillespie reckons the success of Kieran Tierney and John McGinn in England could be a good indication Odsonne Edouard has what it takes to make the step up to the Premier League.

The Celtic striker is tipped to leave Parkhead this summer with Arsenal and Leicester City among the clubs interested in the Frenchman.

A reunion with Brendan Rodgers seems an obvious fit for Edouard with the former Hoops boss well aware of his quality.

And former Leicester midfielder Gillespie believes fans need to trust Rodgers' judgment if he vouches for his signature due to their prior relationship at Celtic.

He also points to the transfer model Arsenal and Aston Villa have used with Tierney and McGinn, which suggests Scotland is a great place to poach talent.

He told FootballFanCast: “I’m sure he is one Rodgers knows well and he’s a big fan of his. I did see reports that he is linked.

“It’s difficult to compare at times because the English Premier League is a lot stronger than the Scottish Premiership. But that player needs to be given the chance to show he can do it in the Premier League.

“You look at Tierney at Celtic, he’s been a fantastic signing, and John McGinn coming from Scottish football, I think he’s a fantastic player.

“I’m sure Brendan Rodgers knows his pedigree, knows what he’s all about and if he feels he can come from Celtic and come into Leicester, he’s got a good eye for a player. He’s been mentioned and is on Leicester’s radar.”
