Odsonne Edouard gets Celtic 'not right' verdict as Frank McAvennie calls for striker change

Frank McAvennie has claimed Odsonne Edouard is 'still not right' but urged Celtic to swap Albian Ajeti for Leigh Griffiths up front.

The former Hoops striker is delighted to see Edouard back scoring and feels he will continue to do so but believes there's still something amiss with the Frenchman.

Edouard has been criticised at times this season but now has eight goals in his last six games and looks to be hitting top form.

It's too little, too late for Celtic in the title race but McAvennie wants to see a switch in the frontline after being unimpressed by the Edouard and Ajeti partnership.

And he feels Neil Lennon should bring Griffiths back into the starting lineup after spending the last four games on the bench since being hooked at half time in the defeat to St Mirren.

McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not think (Albian) Ajeti and (Odsonne) Edouard work well together.

“I would rather have Griff (Leigh Griffiths) starting up top than Ajeti.

“You can tell that Edouard is getting back to his best but he is still not right. He will score goals in his sleep. If he gets the chances, he will take them.”
