Odsonne Edouard earns UEFA praise as Celtic star is named in 'fifty for the future' list

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has been named as one of European football's top fifty players for the future.

UEFA released a list of 50 players that they feel will have a big say on the game in the coming years.

And the Celtic forward is listed alongside the likes of Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli, Barcelona's Ansu Fati, Fabio Silva of Porto and Mason Greenwood of Manchester United.

Edouard is one of the older players on the list at 21 with the majority aged 17, 18 or 19.

But it's still a major boost for the France U21 star who has been a huge success since his £9m move from PSG last summer.

After an initial loan spell, Edouard has become Celtic's key player and has proven himself to be a more than capable replacement for Moussa Dembele.

With 51 goals in 112 games for the club, including 17 in 31 this season, Edouard is sure to attract some interest from Europe's bigger leagues over the next 18 months.

Speaking about the 21-year-old, the UEFA list says: "Strong, athletic and deceptively quick, the ex-Paris trainee links play well and is ice cool in front of goal; a U21 star for France, he ended 2019 top scorer in Scotland."

His 13 goals in the Premiership leaves him top of the Premiership scoring charts, with Rangers star Alfredo Morelos on 12 in the league, Jermain Defoe on 11 and Aberdeen forward Sam Cosgrove also on 11.
