Odsonne Edouard earns rave Celtic review as ex-Rangers hero predicts transfer battle

Former Rangers star Alan Hutton reckons 'gifted' Odsonne Edouard will have a host of clubs battling for his signature when football returns.

Premier League big boys Arsenal are the latest side to show their interest in Celtic's talisman who has two years remaining on his current Parkhead deal.

Record Sport exclusively revealed in January that his former boss Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a £30m move to bring him to Leicester City.

Celtic, amid growing interest, are keen to extended the 28-goal striker's Parkhead contract which is due to expire in 2022.

And ex- Rangers star Hutton - who earned his own money-spinning move to the Premier League with Tottenham in 2008 - is certain a transfer battle is about to commence.

Hutton, speaking to Football Insider , said: "Edouard is technically gifted and I think Celtic will have to do as much as they can to hold onto him because I’m sure there’ll be teams looking at him, whether it be the Premier League or foreign clubs."

Celtic have become transfer specialists at maximising income for a host of their stars in recent years with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama, Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele moving for significant fees.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon admits his side will do all they can to try and tempt the former Paris Saint-Germain man to remain in Glasgow.

He said: “He’s not the type to be banging down your door. He seems quite happy.

“He’s laid back. But it’s not just his goals, his all-round game has been absolutely superb.”
