Odsonne Edouard 'considering' Celtic stay as Leicester City transfer hits snag

Celtic could be handed a huge boost ahead of the new season as it's reported Odsonne Edouard is considering staying at the club.

The France Under-21 striker is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and widely expected to leave Parkhead this summer.

A reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City appeared to be close but talks appear to have stalled.

The Foxes are now in advanced talks to sign Patson Daka of RB Salzburg as they look to build their squad for next season.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Edouard is considering seeing out the final year of his contract at Celtic and leaving as a free agent.

The newspaper believes that talks stalled over the fee Leicester would have to pay for Edouard, with his current club demanding around £25million.

It's claimed that Paris Saint-Germain have a 40 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took the striker to Parkhead, pushing his fee higher despite having just one year left on his deal.

Edouard staying would be a boost to new manager Ange Postecoglou given his form over recent seasons.

He hit 22 goals in 40 appearances last season and has notched more than 20 in each of the past three campaigns.
