Odsonne Edouard Celtic transfer price flip as Arsenal leapfrogged by Premier League pair

Leicester City are now the betting favourites to secure Odsonne Edouard before the close of the transfer window.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is desperate for his talisman to stay and the Premiership champions are preparing to offer him a new deal to silence growing speculation.

Edouard netted in consecutive games for France U21s and will return to Glasgow ahead of Saturday's showdown with Ross County.

Arsenal have been long-term leaders with oddsmakers to land the Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate and were as short as 5/2 back in July but are now 9/1 in some markets.

Leicester City are now favourites in the market at odds of 4/1 with Aston Villa (7/1) and Tottenham (8/1) also seeing their odds shortening.

Record Sport revealed in January that Brendan Rodgers was readying a £30m bid but the Daily Mail report the Foxes would have reservations over matching Celtic's £40m valuation for the 22-year-old.

We also understand there is interest in Edouard from Brighton but the striker sees the south coast club as a step down from Celtic.

Arsenal are the biggest club to be interested in him but Edouard is in no rush to quit the Parkhead club, who do not wish to sell their prized asset as they go for 10 In A Row.

Oddschecker's Callum Wilson said: “Prior to positive talks over Aubameyang’s contract situation, Edouard was as short as 2/1 to join Arsenal.

“That price has continued to drift, with money cooling for the Gunners and coming for a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

“Over the last week, 41 per cent of all bets in the market have backed just that, making Leicester City the new clear favourites for Celtic’s starting striker.”
