Odsonne Edouard Celtic transfer news as Brendan Rodgers cranks up Leicester interest amid managerial void

Leicester City are ready to crank up their pursuit of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

MailSport understands the French ace is now high up on ex-gaffer Brendan Rodgers list of summer targets.

The Foxes boss is keen to add a front-man to his squad for their Premier League assault next term, alongside Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Edouard’s situation at Celtic is one Rodgers and City are now actively exploring, with the 23-year-old’s future at Parkhead up in the air.

With no new manager in place, it looks certain that he’ll leave Glasgow this summer, with the likes of Arsenal also showing an interest.

And having signed Edouard for Celtic from PSG back in 2018 for £8 million, Rodgers looks to be at the head of the queue.

The France Under-21 star only has a year of his Parkhead contract to run and has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants out.

That’s just one issue that has to be dealt with by Celtic’s new gaffer.

But while Eddie Howe remains red hot favourite to take over, MailSport understands reports claiming the deal is done are premature.

The former Bournemouth boss was expected to be unveiled by the Hoops board this week.

But while sources close to the negotiations claim talks are ongoing, it’s understood that an announcement on Howe’s future isn’t imminent.
