Odsonne Edouard Celtic transfer exit collapses as 'Brendan Rodgers tax' slapped on Leicester City reunion

Odsonne Edouard's move to Leicester looks to be off with Celtic 's transfer value priced the side out of a deal.

The France Under-21 striker is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and widely expected to leave Parkhead this summer.

A reunion with Brendan Rodgers appeared to be on the cards but the deal looks to have fallen apart.

The Foxes are now in advanced talks to sign Patson Daka of RB Salzburg as they move on from the Frenchman.

The Athletic report that the pursuit from the English Premier League side moved on to the RB Salzburg attacker as the deal was deemed less complicated and less expensive by Rodgers and recruitment chief Lee Congerton.

Edouard has just one year left on his contract and it's said Celtic continue to dig their heels in over his valuation as they look to rebuild their squad under Ange Postecoglou.

It's also reported any business with Leicester now carries a "Rodgers tax", following his controversial Parkhead exit in 2019.

It has been reported that Paris Saint-Germain have a 40 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took the striker to Parkhead, pushing his fee higher despite having just one year left on his deal.

He hit 22 goals in 40 appearances last season and has notched more than 20 in each of the past three campaigns.
