Odsonne Edouard Celtic transfer efforts 'stepped up' by Leicester City as Brendan Rodgers seeks reunion

Leicester City are set to step up their transfer interest in Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.

The French striker is entering the final year of his contract with the Scottish Premiership runners up and this is the last chance the Hoops will have to cash in on their main man.

And the Sunday Mail reports that Brendan Rogers ’ is set to increase his efforts to reunite himself with the former Paris-SG youngster.

With the managerial vacancy still not filled at Celtic Park, the Foxes are hoping to take advantage and are now actively exploring a deal to take Edouard south.

Rodgers wants to add more firepower to his squad to supplement Jamie Vardy and the in-form Kelechi Iheanacho.

Rodgers brought Edouard to Scotland from France initially on loan before forking out £8million to make his switch from the French capital permanent in 2018 and their previous relationship makes them favourites to land the 23-year-old.

As far as any deal for Eddie Howe goes, Mailsport also understands that an announcement is NOT imminent.

The appointment of the former Bournemouth boss had been expected this week but it is now reported that talks aren’t at that stage yet.

There are still two games left until the end of the current season for interim boss John Kennedy to negotiate.

But given the importance of Celtic ’s recruitment this summer, many insists a new boss needs to be in as early as possible in order to take on the massive rebuilding job that faces the new man.
