Odsonne Edouard Celtic numbers game as fans clamour for key upgrade

It's fair to say Celtic fans have three key things they want ticked off of their Odsonne Edouard checklist.

The first wasn't much to ask and it was to see the club's talisman sporting their new Adidas apparel on the first official day of the money-spinning agreement between the Hoops and the German sporting giants.

Celtic duly obliged with an upload first thing on Wednesday and also shared an image of the France U21 star smiling in the rain at Lennoxtown in the afternoon.

The second request is a little more delicate with fans calling for Edouard to pen a new deal at the club ahead of their Ten In a Row title tilt.

Neil Lennon and the player himself have made positive noises in recent weeks over the chances of him remaining for at least one more year.

The 22-year-old is inundated with suitors but appears happy in Glasgow and chose to stay in his adopted city during lockdown while others returned home.

Fans didn't get a new deal on launch day but another pressing issue presented itself and now appears even more important than a Parkhead contract upgrade.

Supporters have been urging the club to bestow the legendary No.7 jersey upon a player many fans regard as their finest striker since Henrik Larsson.

The players who have been awarded that honour since the super Swede have, for the most part, failed to live up to the hype.

Robbie Keane was great during his loan spell and Patrick Roberts' sharp feet dazzled but Juninho, Maceij Zurawski, Freddie Ljungberg, Miku and Nadir Ciftci failed to deliver.

Hoops diehards reckon now is the perfect for their star man to ditch the No.22.

That doesn't appear to be imminent, with Edouard all smiles while sporting the black training top with his current squad number emblazoned on it.

But followers of the Premiership champions would still love to see it happen.

Sean wrote: "Announce Eddy No.7."

Blochairn Boy channeled the striker's Scottish Cup Final verdict, saying: "Looks, very, very, very, very happeeeee."

And finally, Jamie earned the likes after posting a quick edit with the No.7 in place. He joked: "Fixed it."
