Odsonne Edouard Celtic exit latest as Ange Postecoglou makes defiant starting 11 call despite transfer admission

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou insists Odsonne Edouard remains available for selection – despite admitting he's heading for the exit.

The Frenchman is subject of interest from Brighton and the transfer has dragged for some time but it finally seems like a bid is in place and the wheels are in motion for his long-anticipated big move.

With one year left on his contract at Parkhead it makes sense for Edouard to join Kris Ajer in leaving this window and generating more funds for Postecoglou's summer rebuild.

He was benched for the Europa League tie at Jablonec during the week – with all three forward players scoring in his absence.

That was after he picked up a knock though and Postecoglou says he'll keep picking him.

The boss said: "Nothing has changed for me. Everyone knows that Odsonne is in the last year of his deal and there is plenty of talk that he will move in this window.

"But I just treat it as something that’s happening in the background.

"I prepare the squad for the games and he’s played in most of them.

"He had a little knock after Midtjylland and didn’t train every day – so I put him on the bench in midweek.

"But while he’s here, if he’s playing well and training well, I will select him.

"If something changes over the course of the next few weeks then we are ready for it. Has there been a bid? That’s something I’m not really involved in.

"I leave outgoing players to other people. I am just working hard to bring some in."

Celtic take on Dundee in their first home league game of the season on Saturday afternoon.

And while Postecoglou admits there are big question marks over Edouard's future he's still up for selection.

"Odsonne is available for Dundee," he added. "Will I need to speak to him? No.

"I’ve made a decision that what’s more important to me is the players I know are going to stay.

"If players want to go, I’m not going to try to convince them to stay.

"They are in a much better place to decide where their careers are going and what’s the best place for them. What’s important to me is how they train, play and present themselves."
